This is what at the end worked for me:
If you can connect and add the robot using phone as a hotspot then there’s a chance it will connect also to your router (you will need two phones: one acting as hotspot and the other one for setup).
The trick is to setup the Wi-Fi hotspot in your phone with same SSID and same password as your router.
- Then turn off your router
- Connect to your phone’s Wi-Fi
- Add your vacuum robot in Xiaomi Home application
- Turn off your phone’s hotspot and turn on your router
- Robot should connect to your router using saved credentials from phone
P.S. Also don’t forget to setup your router properly:
- WPA2 encryption
- No special characters in SSID
- Wi-Fi password contains only Latin characters and numbers
- Router supports and broadcast 2.4 GHz band
